FULL LOAD CONTAINER BUNKER SURCHARGES

Over the past few months, there has been a plethhora of press releases relating to changes in EU legislation regarding how shipping lines formulate BAF surcharges. From October 1st the TACA Conference on the North Atlantic (the arbitor of Surcharges and Pricing for many years) has been disbanded and future BAF surcharges will be set by individual carriers. Each shipping line has formula of calculating bunker surcharges and there will be variances depending on route and container size.

We at Excel Ocean are mindful in these changing times to provide accurate information on quotes to new and exisiting customers. Please check with our office for specific areas where new BAF surcharges are expected to alter on a monthly basis. Ocean freight rates are changing to reflect EU legislation guidlines on fuel surcharges.

How this will effect our LCL rating policy has yet to be finalised, however by November 1st we will announce our revised structure for existing and new business to USA and Canada. For the time being current surcharges of 30.00 USD w/m for East Coast / Gulf Atlantc trades and 45.00 USD w/m will remain.

UK TERMINAL HANDLING CHARGES

Part of the changes implemented by all shipping lines, October 1st also sees THC (Terminal Handling Charges) at various ports in the UK alter.

All carriers have set their new rates and we would request that all new enquiries be channeled through to our Hornchurch office for new quotes and updates to existing full load container business.

USA BAF

Current surcharges applicable until May 16th 2008 are as follows:

LCL: EAST COAST 30.00 W/M
WEST COAST: 45.00 W/M

FCL: 20FT 607.00 USD / 20FT 40FT: 1214.00
20FT 911.00 USD / 1822.00 USD 40FT

CAF

Please note currency adjustment factor (CAF) will increase on ocean freight rate per LCL booking from 12 to 15 per cent from May 15th 2008.

PANAMA CANAL SURCHARGE (WEST COAST)

This will increase to $260.00 per unit from May 1st and will be effect on all bookings after that date.

Increase in Oil Fuels BAF Rise

A recent upward trend in the price of oil has had a knock on effect on the BAF charged by shipping lines. June 16th will see the following surcharges apply to East and West Coast Shipments shipped on or after that date.

Panama Canal Surcharge Hiked, but no cigar...

With immediate effect all full load containers to the West Coast via the Panama Canal will no longer carry the revised surcharge - US$ 212.00 per container.

New Loading Bays in Grays for Ocean
